Connection Tips and FAQ
1. My modem disconnects me during downloads. A. do not assume that your system can run with the modem DTE rate at 115,200. Most modems are reliable only at 57600 or 38400. Try changing to a lower DTE rate. B. Try looking for an newer modem driver. C. Try another modem. 2. I have trouble dialing in. I get disconnected within 2 minutes. A. see number one first. B. Some phone lines in Niagara do not handle modem traffic well. They are old, outside, above ground wiring. Try disconnecting any fax machines, answering machines, and other phones to lighten the load on the lines. C. Try running your modem with a generic 33,600 or 28,000 driver. D. Try dialing in from a different location. 3. I have trouble getting to some sites and they are very slow. A. the internet is composed of almost a million separate computers connected together. To expect them all to be working at once would be a dream. Some sites are not geared for the traffic level that they receive. This means that they may be slow one day and the next day or at a different time work fine. The internet is slower in the evening between 7 and midnight because everyone in North America seems to be awake and online. This is the peak time and it is not a good time to expect a fast download.
Note that we monitor our bandwidth constantly. We even dial in ourselves to see how the net is , morning and night. We freely admit that ,we ourselves have equipment failures and have to go offline about twice a year for about an hour or two. Sometimes, this must be done to upgrade equipment. We keep this to a minimum. Our equipment has Battery power backups and spare parts , even spare servers are kept on standby. We have been known to do repairs even at 3 AM. Be assured that we are always doing our best to ensure you the best quality Internet services at all times.
